Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy applies our understanding of how behavior works to real situations. The goal is to decrease behaviors that are harmful or affect learning, and to increase meaningful behaviors such as language, self-advocacy, adaptive living, social, and leisure skills.
ABA is considered an evidence-based practice and is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and US Surgeon General as the treatment of choice for individuals on the autism spectrum (American Academy of Pediatrics).
