Our DEI Policy & Values
A Bridge to Achievement is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is not only a part of our mission and values as a commitment of our organization, but it is representative of who we are as individuals, as well as who we are as an agency.
How we treat others is the most valuable asset we have. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent that our employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture but our reputation and company’s achievements as well.
As an Applied Behavior Analysis provider agency, we believe it is our moral and ethical responsibility to contribute to positive change. As human beings, it is our duty to support all underrepresented and marginalized communities, in the face of adversity and injustice or otherwise.
We embrace and encourage our employees’ differences in age, ability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique, in the same way that we embrace the diversity of the learners in our care and their families.
A Bridge to Achievement’s diversity initiatives are applicable – but not limited – to our practices and policies on recruitment and selection; compensation and benefits; professional development and training; promotions; terminations; and the ongoing development of a work environment built on the premise of diversity equity that encourages and enforces:
-
Respectful communication and cooperation between all employees and families with whom we work.
-
Teamwork and employee participation, permitting the representation of all groups and employee perspectives.
-
Employer and employee contributions to the communities we serve to promote a greater understanding and respect for diversity equity.
-
Continued revisions to our policies, procedures, and practices as we learn how to do better.
-
Closely monitoring this policy and associated policies to swiftly address the use of derogatory language or non-inclusive language.
All employees of A Bridge to Achievement have a responsibility to treat other employees, as well as learners and their families, with dignity and respect at all times. All employees are expected to exhibit conduct that reflects inclusion during work, at work functions on or off the work site, and at all other company-sponsored and participative events, as well as in any public, community, or online forums where they may represent A Bridge to Achievement. All employees are also required to attend and complete annual diversity awareness trainings to enhance their knowledge to fulfill this responsibility.
As such, we refuse to tolerate any form of racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and any other type of discrimination, macro and/or microaggression towards any person, whether they are our employees, learners, families, or simply fellow human beings.
Our commitment to diversity equity extends beyond our own expectations of our staff by asking our learners and their families to give our employees and other learners they may come into contact with, the same courtesy. We expect our employees and our learners to be treated with respect and dignity.
A violation of this policy by an employee or learner/family is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including immediate termination or discharge from ABtA.
Equal Employment Opportunity
ABtA provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation, and training.
